Heart Safe Awards
The Jackson Community Ambulance Board of Trustees honors organizations for their efforts in providing a heart safe environment for visitors and staff by meeting this criteria:
- Public access automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in their building(s)
- CPR/AED trained staff on site whenever facility is open
- A regularly practiced cardiac emergency response plan
The following organizations have created a Heart Safe environment and received the JCA Heart Safe Award:
Siena Heights University, Adrian
Vandercook Lake Public Schools, Summit Township
Consumers Energy, Jackson
Napoleon Community Schools, Napoleon Township
Heart Safe Award winners are recognized by the JCA Board of Trustees each year during Emergency Medical Services Week, usually celebrated the third week in May. Representatives from the winning organizations receive a plaque for their main building and are honored at our annual Emergency Medical Services Recognition Awards Dinner.
Nominations are welcome all year long. The organization must be headquartered or operate in the JCA 9-1-1 service area — Jackson County, parts of Lenawee County and the Albion area — or the 9-1-1 service areas of our affiliated ambulance services - JCA, MCA, LCA or ACA.
